John Turan of the Volusia/Flagler Safe Kids Coalition addressed the club at a July 2005 meeting about the host of children's safety programs his organization promotes. Here is John happily holding up the $1000 check the club donated for their children's water safety programs. Summer of 2005 saw 103 children from ages 2 to 16 receive basic water safety training in Flagler county. Our club was pleased to raise these funds in the Bucket Full "O" Fun Fishing Tournament as our contribution to have Every Flagler County Child a Swimmer .

Summer of 2005 was a time when our club helped support a summer reading program for disadvantaged children. Through a contribution from the Flagler Kiwanis Foundation, over fifty Flagler county children were able to obtain books of their own as incentives to improve their reading skills.
